Data Integration (ETL)

Onpoint CDM consists of three main components — an external web interface, an internal processing system, and a tracking and communications feature. Right now you're using the first of these — the external web interface— which has both a public area and a private, secure zone for registered users.

Getting data into the Onpoint CDM system is done online via a secure SSL/TLS interface (or by CD or DVD if a submitter prefers). Our custom-built tool helps submitters track and transfer files without sacrificing either data integrity or patient privacy, encrypting it and zipping it for upload. The rest of the process takes place internally at Onpoint CDM. Check points along the way include:

Once files reach Onpoint CDM, they're unzipped and the internal process of verifying and integrating data begins. Our Oracle-based system consists of tables and code packages for validating, processing, managing, and storing data.

Onpoint CDM performs standard-level and advanced checking on a wide range of variables, including date spans, submitter codes, record counts, file types, and threshold levels. Our system maintains original data values from uploaded files, while placing standardized corollaries in new fields. This allows us to keep your data intact while we make sure it meets client-set tolerance thresholds.

Data that doesn't meet the mandated specs is failed and flagged for review and resubmission. Email alerts are sent automatically to submitters and to Onpoint Health Data staff, who stand ready to work with you on finding a fix.

Onpoint CDM isn't just about handling data; it's about getting that data back in our clients' hands. That's why we work with submitters every step of the way. Repeated records, duplicate submissions, unusual volume trends, atypical payment patterns, suspect value distributions, data gaps? Whatever the problem, our intake specialists will help find a resolution before loading the final database. Sometimes that means hands-on data mining to find an input flaw. Other times, it means implementing customized system changes. Whatever the cure, we'll be there to help.

With validated data in hand, Onpoint CDM populates the warehouse with submitters' data. It's an exacting process — and exactly what's needed to make sure solid data comes in so sound results go out.

And while it's the end of the data integration process, it's just the beginning for Onpoint Health Data. Independent and expert, we've earned a reputation for providing clients with reliable data and incisive analysis. From custom databases to skilled analysis, Onpoint Health Data can help.
